Open Call: Artist Run Field School (ARFS)
Are you an artist, cook, architect, filmmaker, or curator seeking a unique and inspiring learning environment? Do you want to deepen your practice, collaborate with other disciplines, and be inspired by the natural surroundings? Then the Artist Run Field School (ARFS) is for you!
What?
The Artist Run Field School (ARFS) is a ten-day camping and learning environment created by and for artists. This artist’s camp offers an accessible and informal alternative to formal academic settings, focusing on non-formal learning, practical experience, collaboration, and peer-to-peer learning.
When?
The program takes place from August 19 to September 1, 2024. The work weeks (August 19-23 and 26-30) focus on development and collaboration, while the weekends (August 24-25 and August 31-September 1) are open to the public, featuring presentations and community interaction. Participants are expected to attend for at least three days.
Where?
We will pitch our tents in the beautiful agricultural surroundings near Bruges, on the border between Sijsele and Oedelem. This rustic location provides a perfect backdrop for creative renewal and inspiration. We facilitate an open stage, open-air cinema, workshop space, kitchen, and camping facilities.
For Whom?
We are looking for up to 50 artists, architects, and curators, including students, recent graduates, and established professionals. Diversity in artistic specializations and practical experience is encouraged.
Why Participate?
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work with other disciplines to create unique cross-media works.
- Creation in Nature: Draw inspiration from the natural environment to spark new creative ideas.
- Skill Development: Enhance your technical skills through workshops and masterclasses.
- Concept Exploration: Delve into the conceptual aspects of your work in a stimulating environment.
- Critical Discussions: Engage in group discussions and feedback sessions to deepen your understanding of art and grow professionally.
