Jan Tromp

the Netherlands, b.1995

Jan Tromp (NL, 1995) graduated from HKU Utrecht in 2016, where he focused mainly on installations consisting of homemade and adapted musical instruments. After his studies, Jan disconnects the musical and visual aspects of his practice, and mainly starts working with painting, drawing and photography as well as making collages. In his recent work, he traces spontaneous, intuitive drawings that he cuts out and paints over, creating a visual language that sits between painting and printmaking - a chiseled handwriting.
