Looking for a place to work, exchange ideas, and be inspired by a natural environment this summer? We invite you to take part in the artist run summer camp & happening. In the summer of 2026, Meer Meer invites artists, makers, and free thinkers to gather for a zeven-day residency in the rural landscape of Oedelem–Damme (West Flanders, BE). This edition draws inspiration from Tijl Uilenspiegel—a rebellious, poetic figure rooted in the folklore of the Low Countries, who moves between worlds of magic and reality, spirit and matter, humor and resistance.
Uilenspiegel embodies a way of being that is intuitive, subversive, and deeply connected to land, craft, and collective imagination. As such, he becomes a guiding figure for this year’s residence, where we explore how artistic practices can operate as forms of transformation, knowledge-sharing, and gentle resistance
What is Meer Meer?
Meer Meer is an annual initiative by and for artists. It is a temporary space for work and learning, centered on encounter, collaboration, and slowing down. Not a traditional program, but a shared framework for research, experimentation, and collective action.Magic ︎ Spirit ︎ Craft ︎ Nature
Meer Meer is a temporary artistic community where ±60 participants live, work, and learn together in nature. For ten days, we co-create a shared environment shaped by peer-to-peer learning, informal knowledge exchange, and collective care.
The program unfolds through four interconnected clusters:
- Nature — working with and within the landscape, learning from ecological systems and local materials
- Craft — sharing embodied knowledge through making (wood, clay, textile, sound, etc.)
- Spirit — reflection, reading, and collective thinking practices
- Magic — imagination, performance, ritual, and the poetic disruption of reality
Together, these clusters form a living framework where artistic practice becomes a way of inhabiting the world around.
What we offer
- A 7-day immersive residency (17–23 August 2026)
- A collaborative, process-based environment without production pressure
- Workshops, skill-sharing sessions, and collective building
- A curated artistic program (concerts, performances, radio, film)
- A public moment (21–23 August) where the site opens to invitees
- Space for experimentation, failure, and new forms of collaboration
Participants contribute actively to the community—by sharing knowledge, hosting a workshop, cooking, building, or caring for the space.
Who we are looking for
We welcome:
- Emerging, mid-career, and established artists
- Practitioners across disciplines (visual arts, performance, sound, craft, research, ecology, etc.)
- Individuals interested in collective processes, informal learning, and culture
- Those willing to contribute to a shared environment of care, exchange, and experimentation
No single discipline or outcome is prioritized—what matters is your openness to engage.

OPEN CALL — MEER MEER (zomer 2026)
In de zomer van 2026 nodigt Meer Meer kunstenaars, makers en vrije geesten uit voor een zeven-daagse residentie in het landelijke landschap van Oedelem–Damme (West-Vlaanderen, BE). Deze editie beweegt zich in de nabijheid van Tijl Uilenspiegel — een rebelse, poëtische figuur uit de folklore van de Lage Landen, die zich moeiteloos lijkt te bewegen tussen magie en werkelijkheid, geest en materie, humor en verzet.
Uilenspiegel vertegenwoordigt geen vaststaand idee, maar eerder een houding: intuïtief, licht ontregelend, diep verbonden met land, ambacht en collectieve verbeelding. In die zin wordt hij een gidsfiguur voor deze editie van de residentie, waarin we onderzoeken hoe artistieke praktijken kunnen functioneren als vormen van transformatie, kennisdeling en zachte weerstand.
Over Meer Meer
Meer Meer is een tijdelijke artistieke gemeenschap waar ongeveer ±60 deelnemers samen leven, werken en leren in de natuur. Gedurende zeven dagen bouwen we samen aan een gedeelde omgeving, gevormd door peer-to-peer learning, informele kennisuitwisseling en collectieve zorg.
Het programma ontvouwt zich via vier met elkaar verbonden clusters:
- Natuur — werken met en binnen het landschap, leren van ecologische systemen en lokale materialen
- Ambacht — belichaamde kennis delen via maken (hout, klei, textiel, geluid, enz.)
- Geest — reflectie, lezen en collectieve denkpraktijken
- Magie — verbeelding, performance, ritueel en de poëtische verstoring van de werkelijkheid
Samen vormen deze clusters een levend kader waarin artistieke praktijk een manier wordt om de wereld rondom anders te bewonen.

- Beginnende, mid-career en gevestigde kunstenaars
- Praktijken uit uiteenlopende disciplines (beeldende kunst, performance, geluid, ambacht, onderzoek, ecologie, enz.)
- Mensen met interesse in collectieve processen, informele vormen van leren en cultuur
- Wie bereid is bij te dragen aan een gedeelde omgeving van zorg, uitwisseling en experiment
Geen enkele discipline of uitkomst krijgt voorrang — wat telt, is de bereidheid om zich te engageren.

Geïnspireerd door de geest van Uilenspiegel nodigen we kunstenaars uit om nieuwe manieren van samen denken, maken en bestaan te verkennen.
Dit is niet zomaar een residentie.
Het is een veld van mogelijkheden.
