Open Call: Artist Run Field School (ARFS)
Ben jij een artiest, kok, architect, filmmaker of curator die op zoek is naar een unieke en inspirerende leeromgeving? Wil je je praktijk verdiepen, samenwerken met andere disciplines en je laten inspireren door de natuurlijke omgeving? Dan is de Artist Run Field School (ARFS) iets voor jou!
Wat?
De Artist Run Field School (ARFS) is een tiendaagse kampeer- en leeromgeving voor (en door) kunstenaars, oftewel een kunstenaarscamping. Het project biedt een toegankelijk en ongedwongen alternatief voor formele academische omgevingen, waarbij non-formeel leren, praktijkervaring, samenwerking en peer-to-peer learning centraal staan.
Wanneer?
Het programma vindt plaats van 19 augustus tot en met 1 september 2024. De werkweken (19-23 en 26-30 augustus) richten zich op ontwikkeling en samenwerking, terwijl de weekends (24-25 augustus en 31 augustus-1 september) openstaan voor publiek en gericht zijn op presentaties en interactie met de gemeenschap. Bij deelname wordt er verwacht dat je minstens drie dagen kan participeren.
Waar?
In de prachtige agrarische omgeving rond Brugge, op de grens tussen Sijsele en Oedelem, zullen we onze tenten opslaan. Deze rustieke locatie biedt een perfecte achtergrond voor creatieve herbronning en inspiratie. We faciliteren een open podium, openlucht cinema, workshop ruimte, keuken en kampeergelegenheid.
Voor Wie?
Wij zoeken maximaal 50 kunstenaars, architecten en curatoren, zowel studenten als pas afgestudeerden en gevestigde namen. Diversiteit in artistieke specialisaties en praktijkervaring wordt aangemoedigd.

- Interdisciplinaire Samenwerking: Werk samen met andere disciplines en creëer unieke cross-mediale werken.
- Creatie in de Natuur: Laat je inspireren door de natuurlijke omgeving en wek nieuwe creatieve ideeën op.
- Verdieping van Technische Vaardigheden: Verdiep je technische vaardigheden via workshops en masterclasses.
- Exploratie van Concepten: Denk diep na over de conceptuele aspecten van je werk in een stimulerende omgeving.
- Kritieke Discussies: Neem deel aan groepsgesprekken en feedbacksessies om je begrip van kunst te verdiepen en professioneel te groeien.
- Netwerkmogelijkheden: Maak formele en informele connecties met andere kunstenaars en professionals.
Programma Hoogtepunten
- Dagelijkse Sessies: Professionele kunstenaars geven dagelijks invulling aan het programma. Verwacht een mix van praktijkervaring en theoretische sessies.
- Publieke Weekends: Open voor publiek, met presentaties, open podia, lezingen, cinema-avonden en performanceprogramma's.
- Documentatie en Publicatie: Het programma wordt gedocumenteerd en verwerkt in een publicatie die na afloop beschikbaar zal zijn.

Deelnemen is gratis! We verwachten enkel een bijdrage voor eten en drinken. Je kan ook een budget aanvragen voor aankoop van materialen van de workshop die je wil geven of de technieken die je wil delen.

What?
The Artist Run Field School (ARFS) is a ten-day camping and learning environment created by and for artists. This artist’s camp offers an accessible and informal alternative to formal academic settings, focusing on non-formal learning, practical experience, collaboration, and peer-to-peer learning.
When?
The program takes place from August 19 to September 1, 2024. The work weeks (August 19-23 and 26-30) focus on development and collaboration, while the weekends (August 24-25 and August 31-September 1) are open to the public, featuring presentations and community interaction. Participants are expected to attend for at least three days.
Where?
We will pitch our tents in the beautiful agricultural surroundings near Bruges, on the border between Sijsele and Oedelem. This rustic location provides a perfect backdrop for creative renewal and inspiration. We facilitate an open stage, open-air cinema, workshop space, kitchen, and camping facilities.
For Whom?
